John “Adidam” Littlejohn – director / violin faculty

John Littlejohn is a violinist who is an equally adept soloist, chamber musician, educator, and alternative hip-hop artist. After graduating from the Peabody Institute (MM, GPD) and the University of Michigan (BM), John toured North America and Europe, performing as a soloist with various orchestras, as well as solo recitals. John has served as the concertmaster of the Newark Symphony, and has been a member of numerous orchestras and ensembles including the Baltimore Opera Orchestra.

He is currently a member of the critically-acclaimed beatboxing string trio, Infinitus. With a repertoire featuring classical standards and original jazz/hip-hop arrangements and compositions, Infinitus is quickly becoming one of North America’s premiere chamber groups. Since 2006, they have performed over 800 community, education, and outreach concerts.

As an alternative hip-hop artist, John performs under the moniker “A.d.i.d.a.m.”, which is a acronym for “All Day I Dream About Music.” His music is a blend of hip-hop, classical, jazz, and gospel, threaded together into a refreshingly unique sound. He has been featured in a variety of publications and programs, including CBC, National Public Radio (USA), and USA Today. A VH1 entertainment journalist called his music “extremely original and magnificently arranged and played.”

John is dedicated to quality music education and outreach. He teaches in various settings, including: private lessons, group classes, coachings, workshops, and seminars. He is passionate about equipping students with a strong technical foundation, while simultaneously encouraging them to freely express their creativity through their instruments. His students have won competitions, and have attended a few of the world’s finest music institutions.

He is the director and founder of the Thrive City String Academy and Boot Camp, and has been on the faculty of several music programs, including the Austin Chamber Music Center, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and the Young Artist Experience. He is currently a faculty member of the Delta Community Music School, Vancouver Academy of Music, and Saint James Music Academy.
